The Maui County Fair calls out to all Maui County High School clubs and organizations to test your culinary skills and enter one of the Maui County Fairs newest additions - The Aloha Cherry Truffle Challenge!

The Aloha Cherry Truffle Challenge will be held at the Maui County Fair on Sunday October 4th, 2009. Each Maui County high school is eligible to enter one cooking team of 2-4 students who will be mentored by a culinary professional of their choice. Cook-off entries must incorporate Roselani's Aloha Cherry Truffle Ice Cream as the principle ingredient in their final presentation, and will be judged on taste, originality, presentation and audience support. 1st place ($500), 2nd place ($300), and 3rd place ($150) prizes will be awarded, as well as an ice cream for party consolation prize for all other teams entered.

Teams must also prepare 50 sample size portions to be sold at $2.00 each following the contest. All funds collected will be donated to the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation's Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. Aloha Cherry Truffle Ice Cream, utensils and paper goods, and select other supplies will be donated through event sponsors including Roselani Ice Cream, Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation, Maui Hotel & Lodging Association, Maui Diagnostic Imaging and Grapevine Productions.

Cooking and preparation will take place fronting the War Memorial Gym starting at 1pm, with final presentation, judging, and awards on the Entertainment Center Stage at 2pm. Samples will be available for sale after the award ceremony under the Entertainment Tent.

All forms should be submitted to the Maui County Fair Administrative Office, located in the War Memorial Gymnasium parking lot. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 10am to 2pm. The 87th Maui County Fair will be "Your Invitation to Fun" and held Thursday, October 1 through Sunday, October 4. The highly anticipated annual event brings the entire community together to enjoy an alcohol-free, smoke-free and drug-free family-oriented educational event with plenty of entertainment, delicious local food, and fun! This year especially, the Fair gives the people of Maui County a well-deserved break from the current economic times and provides priceless quality time for family and friends. The Maui County Fair is the primary source of funding for many of Maui's nonprofit and community organizations. It relies entirely on corporate or local business sponsorships, local donations, and volunteers for support. Corporate Sponsorship packets are also available online for download.
